Medicare Prescription Drug Plan

Congress mandated a new prescription drug benefit for people with Medicare through the passage of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA). Beginning January 1, 2006, new Medicare prescription drug plans were made available to people with Medicare. Here are some resources that can help providers and patients better understand the prescription drug plans:
