AIM: 20% or greater relative reduction in BSI rates, creating a safer environment for dialysis patients.

Quality Insights Renal Network 5 (QIRN5) is conducting a Blood Stream Reduction/Prevention Project (Bundle Up) to reduce and prevent BSI rates among dialysis patients. Selected facilities are provided with guidance to improve implementation of the CDC 9 Core interventions for Dialysis BSI Prevention.

Annual NHSN Training

Each year, the CDC requires that one person from each facility complete the Annual NHSN Dialysis Event Surveillance Training. Starting in 2018, Network 5 must verify, track, and report training activity to CMS monthly.
To receive credit for completing the required training, follow these steps:
  • Complete the training.
    • Click on Training Spotlight
    • Click on Dialysis Event Surveillance Annual Training (self-paced interactive multimedia instruction.)
  • Print out the certificate of completion.
  • At the top of the certificate, write your clinic CCN.
  • Fax certificate to the Network Office at 804.320.5918
