ESRD Network 5 has 13 Transplant Centers that perform kidney and/or pancreas transplants in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. The resulting transplant survival statistics are public record, and are available from Arbor Research Collaborative for Health, with the University of Michigan.
The United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) maintains a computer database of patients waiting for cadaveric transplant and records transplants performed in the United States. Data is collected by the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) along with hospitals and organ procurement organizations (OPOs) across the country. The Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR) publishes a report of Center Specific Graft and Patient Survival Rates in January and July of each year, reflecting these data. Visit www.ustransplant.org to view or download complete patient and graft survival data. Select "Program and OPO Data", then select "Transplant Program and OPO Specific Reports" for the most current data, or "Program and OPO Specific Report Archives" for historical data. A User's Guide explaining table content is available at the beginning of each transplant report. Information on these websites can be used to compare transplant center performance data.
A summary of patient and graft survival data for Network 5 centers is provided for your convenience in Adobe pdf format. (Updated from www.ustransplant.org, July 2008)
